Description
A spooky, protein-packed Halloween treat made with thick Greek yogurt, honey or maple syrup, chocolate cookie ‘dirt,’ and creative edible decorations. Easy to make, customizable, and perfect for parties.
Ingredients
2 cups thick Greek yogurt (plain or vanilla)
1/4 cup honey or maple syrup (adjust to taste)
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 cup chocolate cookie crumbs (Oreo crumbs work well)
Black food gel coloring (a few drops)
Decorations: Candy eyeballs, bone-shaped candy, strawberry ‘fingers’
Instructions
1. In a medium bowl, whisk together the Greek yogurt, honey or maple syrup, and vanilla extract until smooth.
2. Add a tiny drop of black food gel and gently fold it in. Aim for a ghostly gray color with spooky swirls.
3. Place a layer of cookie crumbs in serving glasses or bowls to create the ‘dirt.’
4. Scoop the gray yogurt mixture on top of the crumbs.
5. Decorate with candy eyeballs, bone candies, or strawberry ‘fingers.’
6. Chill in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes before serving.
Notes
Best enjoyed fresh. If storing, keep in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 24 hours.
Avoid liquid food coloring, which will make the yogurt watery. Always use gel.
Do not over-mix after adding the gel—spooky swirls look best.
For a vegan version, use coconut yogurt, maple syrup, and vegan cookies.
