Ingredients
2 Liters Filtered Water
2 Medium Fresh Limes
1 Large Bunch Fresh Mint Leaves
2 Cups Ice Cubes
1-inch Knob Fresh Ginger (Optional)
Instructions
- Wash the limes and mint thoroughly under cold running water
- Slice the limes into thin rounds, approximately 1/8th of an inch thick
- Bruise the mint by clapping your hands together with the mint in the middle
- Place the lime slices and bruised mint at the bottom of a large glass pitcher. Add ginger if using
- Fill the pitcher halfway with ice to keep the botanicals submerged
- Pour the filtered water over the ice and botanicals. Stir gently for about 30 seconds
- Refrigerate the pitcher for at least two hours, preferably four to six for best flavor
- Pour into individual glasses, discarding the botanicals after 24 hours
Notes
Use charcoal-filtered or spring water to avoid chlorine flavors.
Organic limes are preferred since the zest will steep long.
For variations, consider using lemons, basil, or cucumbers.
