Description

Ingredients

– 4 ¼ cups all-purpose flour (or bread flour)
– ⅓ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
– 2 ¼ teaspoons active dry yeast (1 packet)
– 1 cup warm milk (110°F)
– ¼ cup granulated sugar
– 2 large eggs, room temperature
– 1 teaspoon red gel food coloring
– 10 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
– ¾ cup brown sugar, packed
– 1 tablespoon cinnamon
– ⅓ cup heavy cream (for baking)
Cream Cheese Frosting:
– 4 oz cream cheese, softened
– 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
– 1 cup powdered sugar, sifted
– 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
– 2 tablespoons milk (or heavy cream)


Instructions

Step 1: Make the Dough
1. Warm the milk to 110°F, mix with yeast and sugar, let sit for 10 minutes.
2. Mix flour, cocoa powder, and salt in a large bowl.
3. Add eggs, red food coloring, and melted butter to the dry ingredients, mix well.
4. Knead for 5-8 minutes, then let rise in a warm place for 1 hour.

Step 2: Prepare the Filling
5. Mix brown sugar, cinnamon, and softened butter until smooth.
6. Roll out the dough into a ¼-inch thick rectangle, spread the filling evenly.
7. Roll tightly into a log shape and slice into 12 rolls.

Step 3: Baking
8. Arrange in a greased 9×13-inch baking dish, let rise for 20 minutes.
9. Pour heavy cream around the rolls, then bake at 375°F for 25 minutes.

Step 4: Make the Frosting & Serve
10. Beat cream cheese, butter, powdered sugar, vanilla, and milk until smooth.
11. Spread over warm rolls and enjoy!
